Good article balancing the reality man may be influencing earthquakes in certain areas while realizing the reality that oil and gas extraction along with waste water injection is viable in most areas without incident. Common sense solutions are attainable and a worthy goal. Affordable and available energy with good stewardship of the land can be the result of working with science and technology without frantic hype.

Shirley, maybe you had a dream what the earthquakes were being caused by, but reality is no one knows the causes and even if fractionation and injection are causing the quakes, steps can be taken to remedy it. I like most people enjoy the available and affordable energy we need. Let us know what you would be willing to give up to use 50% less energy. All the people I know who work in the energy business are hard working responsible men and women I call my neighbors.

AEH: If you are in somebody’s pocket, you would say things like this. My house is being shaken daily by the Earthquakes lately. I am afraid of damage to my house and contamination of my well water. You would be too if you lived where I live. My brother who is the the UNTOUCHABLE oil industry told me several years ago to buy earthquake insurance. Glad I listened. Money is the driving force and little regard is given the consequences. More regulation and oversight is needed. HOW IRRESPONSIBLE!

Take a deep breath Shirley. Unless there is a major shift in the continental plate (which would have nothing to do with extracting oil), we will all be here for a long time now.
