Buchan Joins JLT Specialty’s Construction Practice; Lu Joins Environmental

JLT Specialty Insurance Services Inc. has appointed William Buchan as senior vice president of its Construction Practice, which is based in San Francisco.

Buchan will help lead all facets of the Construction Practice, as well as provide counsel to other related key specialty areas.

Buchan joins Cynthia Evanko Olinger, PhD, who was previously announced as senior vice president and Construction Professional Liability leader.

Buchan brings to JLT Specialty USA nearly two decades of experience in construction risk management, risk finance and loss control, business continuity and disaster recovery and environmental resources management. Most recently, since 2013 Buchan served as vice president of Risk Management at Tutor Perini Corp., where he led a risk management team. From 2007 to 2013, he was a senior vice president and regional director at Aon Risk Services where he managed its Western region Wrap-Up group. Previously, Buchan managed a new enterprise risk management function at Premera Blue Cross and began his career at AT&T.

JLT Specialty also announced that Brian Lu will be joining the firm as senior vice president on the environmental team based in New York. As a member of the environmental team, Lu will work with the Construction Practice, along with JLT’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice.

Prior to joining JLT Specialty USA, Lu was a director at Aon Risk Solutions since 2012, where he managed the Northeast for the Aon Environmental Services Group and acted as the Structured Portfolio Solutions project leader for the Environmental Practice. From 2003 to 2012, he was in senior underwriting roles at both AIG and Chubb.
