Surplus lines carrier Scottsdale Insurance Co. has named David Nelson as the leader of contract underwriting.

Nelson has been with Scottsdale Insurance since 1991. His most recent position was CFO for the Scottsdale Insurance Group of Companies, Nationwide Agribusiness and Nationwide National Partners. As CFO, he retained financial oversight for $3.8 billion of annual operating revenue, while managing staff located in Scottsdale, Des Moines and New York City.
Scottsdale Insurance President Mike Miller said Nelson has played key roles in diversifying the company’s portfolio with startups such as Freedom Specialty, Minnesota Motor Carriers and Nationwide Private Client and in influencing the expansion of its product offerings.
