U.S. and EU Reach Agreement on Insurance Regulation

    Since Switzerland is not part of the EU, will there be similar arrangements between Switzerland and the US and EU? If not, are Chubb and Zurich still subject to dual regulation?

    I do not trust the outgoing administration to negotiate in good faith for the American people. This surprise should be vetted before foisting it on an industry that has done fine with state regulation. One size fits all regulation on a Federal level is scary enough, but to have the European union, or whatever regulatory body to determine regulations in Vermont or Florida…

      That’s not what the article said.

      “For the United States, the agreement preserves the primacy of state regulation the U.S. of U.S. insurance groups while for the EU, it preserves the primacy of EU oversight of EU insurance groups.”
