The Wall Street Journal is reporting that American International Group Inc. plans to name Brian Duperreault, founder and CEO of Hamilton Insurance Group, as CEO, replacing Peter Hancock. The publication cited people familiar with the matter.
Duperreault, 70, has extensive insurance executive experience having led ACE Insurance (1994) and Marsh McLennan (2008). Prior to those positions, he worked at AIG under former CEO Hank Greenberg.
It was reported last month that Duperreault was under consideration.
Hamilton Insurance is currently in a small business insurance joint venture, Attune, with AIG and Two Sigma.
Current AIG CEO Hancock in March that he would step down after losing the support of investors including activist billionaire Carl Icahn.
