Kicking the can down the flooded Southeastern road, to allow more time for recovery from Harvey, Irma. Hopefully, the Republican Congressional leaders come to their senses about ACA, IRC reform, and NFIP reform.

Surely your insider knowledge could have seen this coming, right?

Polar, that crook Menendez is on trial for corruption and fraud. Hopefully, that Democrat will be making a long visit to the big house. Frees up another vote, doesn’t it?

      Confused,

We all know that deficits and the debt only matter when the Democrats are in power, especially the White House.

        Live and learn.

No, we don’t all know that. Explain why you think a hyuuge nat cat doesn’t create an exception for ANY political party to raise the debt ceiling. BE SPECIFIC TO MY SPECIFIC QUESTION, or expect no reply.

Until you start replying to my posts in a way that indicates you have actually comprehended what I wrote, there is no need to continue a debate.

Can you quote where the Republicans, especially President Trump, were presenting specific plans to reduce the debt BEFORE these huge catastrophes? I do recall them requesting an increase in the debt ceiling. I also recall them fighting an increase in the debt ceiling during the previous administration.

This isn’t even a find. Anyone who has been paying attention knew Trumps spending cuts were heralded as the coming of the poor-ocalypse

Then when he modifies them, and I am sure he will to calm people down and get some sort of plan passed, they will say how he is a hypocrite. The left is good at riling people up like Ron, who are a dime a dozen.

People like me however, they can’t. The bad thing is that people like me are extremely uncommon.

Deficit? What deficit. The feds need to get out of this sooner than later. Huge burden on the taxpayer and those who choose not to build in flood prone areas.

Agreed 100%. Unfortunately, it would look like a “mean” thing to do for those suffering through hurricanes and floods, so they will keep kicking the can down the road.

To politicians, deficits and debts are things others have to pay/ are responsible to resolve. ALL politicians. ALL. EVERY ONE OF THEM.

The whole thing is fraught with politics. Insurance under the government is not insurance, it’s a sure thing, because they want your vote. Screw the taxpayer, horror if they do something right. I despise the whole bunch of them, with few exceptions all whores.

If you think all get “made whole”, you need to come to southeast Louisiana where 13 months later thousands are losing their homes after August 2016 flood event (not a hurricane). Thousands of the homes affected here were built above the 100-year floodplain as required by local ordinances. I just met with a couple Wednesday who received $9,800 from FEMA to repair over $50,000 in damages. They have been living in this house with flooring and walls stripped out, no air conditioning, no cabinets. Homeowners insurance industry does NOT cover rising waters (flooding). Hmmm! We do tire of those not affected complaining without any sort of understanding of the complexity of this issue.

Homeowners insurance industry excludes coverage for “rising water” (flooding). In the eyes of many southeastern U.S. homeowners, the NFIP is a subsidy to the insurance industry. Are we mistaken? (Oh, and there are generally limits and/or surcharges to homeowners coverage for hurricane damage.)

Agree on the details. But, if you’re claiming this is an unfair practice, WHO approved the policy forms?

The NFIP is abused, from time to time, with loose definitions of ‘flood waters’. I couldn’t determine what percentage of combined hurricane / flood damage is due to each peril, and neither can claim adjusters in an absolutely unbiased way. So, for the sake of goodwill going forward, some claims are (partially, fully) paid which should not be, some claims are not paid which should be, and some apportioning is imprecise. Pointing to one example of seemingly unfair claim settlement is not going to convince anyone that the system is unfair.

Addendum; fairness should also apply to property owners who insure properly; e.g. assess their exposures, apply I-to-V properly and update their ‘V’ regularly, and try to mitigate their risk before and after a claim.

And yet ignores all republican plans to reduce debt, instead focusing on Agent’s hypocrisy and supposed no facts decisions. Hint: If you don’t know about the plans, you also are posting without evidence regarding republican spending.

I have never seen one GOP proposal to reduce the deficit. Some plans have been presented to slow down the growth of the deficit, but not one single plan has ever been seriously proposed to reduce it.

On another note: The ones that have been discussed have been laughed out of contention as they use numbers and growth projections which have been impossible outside of the boom period following World War II.
