The Texas Senate confirmed Richard Smith, Eddie Wilkerson, and Mike Hachtman to serve as Commissioners of the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission (TWCC).
Governor Rick Perry appointed Smith to the Commission in April 2002, Wilkerson in June 2002, and Hachtman in February 2003. Smith was also appointed Chairman of the Commission in February 2003 and will serve in this position until February 2005.
Employee Commissioner Kenneth L. Moore, whose term was to expire in February 2005, has submitted his resignation to Governor Perry due to a job transfer. He accepted a promotion at the Seafarers International Union and will relocate to Florida to support the Merchant Marine’s sealift of U.S. military equipment for a possible war with Iraq. Governor Perry is expected to appoint a replacement in the near future.
Mike Hachtman of Houston will serve as an Employer Commissioner replacing Commissioner Joel “Burt” Terrill, whose term expired February 1, 2003. Hachtman’s term will expire February 1, 2009. Hachtman is Vice President of Business Development for IFCO Systems North America Inc., the largest pallet company in the United States. He is the former chief of staff at the Texas Railroad Commission.
