Louisiana Shuts Down Former Bogalusa/Covington Area Agent

March 28, 2003

Investigators for the Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Unit served cease and desist orders to Linda Foxworth McMillan and A Aabco Insurance Agency of 234 Richmond Street, Bogalusa, prohibiting both from conducting any kind of insurance business in Louisiana, according to acting Insurance Commissioner J. Robert Wooley.

Evidence presented to the Department of Insurance shows that McMillan allegedly collected premium payments and issued bogus proofs of insurance statements to a number of individuals during the almost two years since her insurance license expired. Violations listed in the cease and desist order include acting as a producer (agent) without being licensed by the department and converting to her own use money held by her in a fiduciary capacity. In one instance, McMillan allegedly collected payments for insurance, issued a written statement saying there was insurance coverage and never made any application to an insurance company for coverage. At the time, she was not licensed to sell any kind of insurance.

Department records show that McMillan had a Property and Casualty insurance license from August 24, 1999, until May 1, 2001, as did her agency, A Aabco Insurance Agency. Other addresses listed in Department records in connection with McMillan and/or her agency include 143 Shenandoah St., Bogalusa; 316 S. Broad St., New Orleans; and P.O. Box 2780, Covington.

Consumers who have purchased insurance or conducted other insurance business with Linda Foxworth McMillan or the A Aabco Insurance Agency should contact their insurance company or companies right away to learn the status of their insurance, Wooley said. If they have trouble contacting the company or find they have paid out money that the insurance company or companies did not receive, they should call the Department of Insurance at (800) 259-5300 as soon as possible. Upon request, communication with the Department of Insurance Fraud Unit may be kept confidential.
