National Alliance Academy Forms Producer Leadership Council

January 17, 2006

The Austin, Texas-based National Alliance Research Academy announced it has developed a long-term advisory task force on insurance producer leadership. The group’s distinct purpose is to share information in order to track and evaluate the success of new commercial insurance producers.

The Producer Leadership Council, a group of six insurance industry leaders, meets on a quarterly basis in a forum to discuss issues of new producer retention, gather basic production data, and assess developing trends identified from national surveys.

“We plan to profile successful graduate producers (anonymously), along with the attributes that make them successful,” explained William T. Hold, Ph.D., president of The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research.

All of the Council members have sponsored at least one producer in the three-week National Alliance School for Producer Development (the “Producer School”). The Producer Leadership Council is participating with The National Alliance Research Academy in the evaluation of survey information and the formation of follow-up questionnaires to distribute to Producer School graduates and their sponsors.

“The Academy will use the information we gather from these meetings and surveys to extend our research, and help us to better define the profiles of successful producers,” said Christopher Ketcham, executive vice president for The Academy.

The formation of the Council was prompted by the sales managers of Producer School participants who identified a need for a forum to discuss successful producer development and share ideas, results, and experiences.

Council members are:

–Parkes Brandon – Crichton, Brandon, Jackson & Ward Inc., Nashville, Tenn.
–Anne Davis – Hotchkiss Insurance Agency, Carrollton, Texas
–Brett Morgan – SWBC Insurance Services, San Antonio, Texas
–Bryan Grove – Keetch & Associates, Corpus Christi, Texas
–Michael Trufant – Wright & Percy, Baton Rouge, La.
–Charon Tyrrell – Landry Harris & Co., Lafayette, La.

“It is our hope that having an ongoing forum to share new producer data and information will benefit agencies of all sizes in all geographic areas,” said Dean L. Fletcher, National Alliance director of Business Development.
