The staff and operations of Lexington General Agency Inc. of Hammond, La., have moved into the offices of Burns & Wilcox of Baton Rouge, effective Jan. 20, 2006. Gary Batten, vice president and branch manager of Burns & Wilcox in Louisiana announced that national specialty insurance wholesaler and managing general agent Burns & Wilcox acquired Lexington General Agency Sept. 1, 2005.
Lexington General has served retail agents in Louisiana for 15 years.
“The past four months have been very hectic, with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita leaving a devastating mark on Louisiana. Everyone has been busy recovering from personal and professional damage,” said Batten. “In the midst of adversity, we are pleased that we have a positive announcement to make.”
Lexington General underwriters Michelle Stewart and Kim Berthelot joined the Burns & Wilcox team to continue to provide agents with exceptional service and an expanded product line, Burns & Wilcox’s announcement said.
Former owner of Lexington General Agency, Ken Fortinberry, would like to extend his gratitude for the opportunity to service his agents over the past years. Ken looks forward to his next milestone as he enjoys “the good life” and retirement from the insurance business.
