Specialty Risk Services Workers’ Comp Network Certified for Texas

October 4, 2006

Specialty Risk Services, LLC (SRS) announced the certification of its Texas Workers’ Compensation Health Care Network by the Texas Department of Insurance. The company will begin offering the new network to all clients with operational implementation on or after Nov. 15, 2006.

SRS’ Workers’ Compensation Health Care Network option will allow eligible employers who select the network to direct the medical care of their employees. This ensures employees receive the best possible treatment from contracted providers who follow evidence-based procedures to allow for more effective treatment plans. All contracted providers must adhere to defined utilization review and return-to-work guidelines.

Initially available in 30 counties, SRS’ network was established in response to Texas House Bill 7, passed by the Texas Legislature last summer. The bill was created to improve quality of care, control health care costs in the state’s workers’ compensation system, and help injured workers return to employment as soon as medically able. SRS is already working with the Texas Department of Insurance to add additional counties to the approved network.

Injured workers who are covered by the network and live in a network service area will select their treating doctor from a list of SRS’ Workers’ Compensation Health Care Network occupational health care providers. Network case managers will work with injured workers, employers, and health care providers to facilitate appropriate and cost-effective health care and return-to-work. A complete list of network providers will be available through an online directory posted on SRS’ Web site, www.specialtyriskservices.com.
