The Texas Hospital Insurance Exchange, an Austin-based reciprocal insurance company, has announced an average 16 percent rate cut for its hospital liability subscribers, effective Dec. 1. Current THIE subscribers will receive the new rate when their policies renew.
The company said it is the first significant cut for hospitals since the passage of tort reform in 2003. THIE insures primarily small or rural hospitals.
