IIAT 110th Annual Conference Set for June 3 – 5 in San Antonio

May 25, 2007

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) announced its 110th Conference & Trade Show June 3-5 in San Antonio. Nearly 200 exhibitors are registered for the three-day trade show to be held at the San Antonio Conference Center and the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel.

An industry leadership panel will follow the annual business meeting on June 5. This panel will include Bob Restrepo, State Auto; Clyde Fitch, Travelers; John Barbagallo, Progressive; and Bob Fulwider, IIABA president-elect. The group will discuss issues affecting agents in Texas including compensation, disclosure, optional federal legislation and more.

Craig Karges, one of America’s great illusionists, will encourage conference attendees to challenge natural laws and old perceptions. At the keynote address on the evening of June 4, Karges will combine the art of magic with the science of psychology and the power of intuition to convey the message that nothing is impossible.

Secretary of State Roger Williams will keynote the Wade F. Spilman Political Action luncheon June 5 and talk about the importance of small businesses to the Texas economy. The Drex Foreman Award, the highest award given by IIAT annually, and the Paige Eiland Award will be given during the luncheon.

The conference will kickoff an expanded statewide branding campaign, Trusted Choice, to encourage all IIAT member independent agencies to join Trusted Choice as the preferred insurance source. To underscore the value of Trusted Choice, IIAT announced that it will pay the full annual Trusted Choice membership fee for one year effective Sept. 1, 2007 for all IIAT agency members.

Highlights of this year’s conference include a workshop duet by Virtual University’s Bill Wilson and industry sage Chris Amrhein. The duo will present the top 20 tales of claims and coverages afternoon during their Top 20 Countdown. Amrhein will also present a customer service CSR workshop titled “Who Moved My Purple Cow?”
