Louisiana’s Tangipahoa Parish Getting First Fire Administrator

Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana soon will have its first fire administrator.

The Daily Star reports Dennis Crocker will take on the title and duties Dec. 17.

Crocker currently is chief of the Independence Volunteer Fire Department.

His new job will involve overseeing the parish’s 10 fire departments, including all in Tangipahoa Parish except the Hammond and Amite departments.

Crocker spent 25 years with the Kenner Fire Department before retiring and teaching for two years the LSU’s Fire Academy in Baton Rouge.

He’s served as chief in Independence since 2008.
