I don’t think the issue is regulating the number of people in a residence but maybe, just maybe some serious building regulations wouldn’t hurt; but hey, it’s Texas… anything goes.
We do have building codes inside the city limits. It is fair game outside the city limits in the unincorporated areas. But common sense should prevail, I do not think any structure like a garage apartment is built to handle 125 people.
Lets see…..125 x 175 (average weight per person) = 21,875 Lbs.
That’s almost 11 tons, building codes on single family dwellings probably do not account for 11 tons in a small area.
Believe it or not, the “engineers” that built and approved this house are the same guys that built the high school football stadium and the house with the lovely view of the river.
