Texas’ Residual Property Insurance Markets Hit with Severe Weather Claims

April 20, 2015

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) and Texas FAIR Plan Association (TFPA) began responding to policyholders impacted by the severe weather that affected a number of Texas communities last week and over the weekend.

As of April 20, TWIA and TFPA have received almost 1,000 claims and expect to receive another 500 to 1000 more.

TWIA/TFPA announced that in response to the storms, phone support is available 24/7 and field adjusters have been dispatched to impacted areas for rapid assessment of damages.

TWIA/TFPA representatives are contacting policyholders within 24 hours of filing a claim to explain the claims process and provide contact information for representatives assigned to their claim. Each policyholder is assigned a claims examiner to guide him or her through the claims process

Management is continuously monitoring claim volume to ensure sufficient staff and resources are available to provide a high-level of customer service
