The insurance contract calls for the deductible to apply per loss. How can you change the contract after the losses. I sustained wind losses in KY on 09/06 and 09/13 and paid two seperate $1500 deductibles. Do you think the company should change the contract after the losses? I think not. Why not change the deductibles to zero & start bankrupting some of the companies.
But you watch the responses that get posted here about this matter.
My personal “favorite” is the usual poster that states:
“It’s not fair that you honor your contract, and charge me for multiple events! It’s not my fault I chose to live here, and took the risk!”
Despite the fact that they traded life in a tropical paradise for the risk that a hurricane might destroy that paradise, they still want someone else to pay for thier trade off.
Is an insurance company greedy, or is it just simply trying to avoid insolvency from 10,000 people all saying the same thing. 20 MIL in freebies….No thanks.
Hey, good ol’ Gallager may be onto something. Only one ded per hurricane season. It’d be just like health insurance – all you have to do is meet your deductible. It would make our lives as adjusters alot easier. …. But then Homeowners insurance would be just health insurance in other ways … the average person could not afford it! Maybe the head of financal services should think his suggestion through a little bit more.
