If the team discovered the injury at the time his contract was being negotiated and thought his career was at risk, why would they sign him to a $25m deal and give him an $8m signing bonus? Seems to me if they thought it was serious they either would not have signed him, or would have put him on rehab immediately to protect their investment.

He gets paid whether or not he plays (under the CBA).
I think at issue is the team’s failure to disclose, not the salary. He’d probably be close to retiring by now anyway, given his age, IMO.
Never having a knee injury…wouldn’t you know if it’s hurt or not?
