Main Street America Appoints Fox as General Counsel

The Main Street America Group has appointed Bruce Fox to serve as the group’s general counsel. Fox has been serving as corporate counsel for the property and casualty group since 2007. He will report to Main Street America chairman, president, and chief executive officer Tom Van Berkel and will be based at the firm’s corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.

In his new role, Fox will oversee Main Street America’s corporate operations and provide legal advice on all personnel matters affecting the group’s five subsidiaries and one affiliate. He will also be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s business practices, policies and other practices meet all state and federal regulatory requirements.

Fox join Main Street America in 2002 as a senior field attorney and was subsequently promoted to managing attorney in 2006 where he oversaw the company’s staff counsel operations in Auburn, Massachusetts. He was elected as a company officer in 2008. Prior to joining Main Street America, Fox was the director of legal services for contract negotiations and the benchmarking services division of AMR Research Inc., in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Main Street American Group is a super-regional insurance company that operates seven property and casualty insurance companies including: NGM Insurance Co., Old Dominion Insurance Co., Main Street America Assurance Co., MSG Insurance Co., Great Lakes Casualty Insurance Co., Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance Co. and Main Street America Protection Insurance Co. Together the companies represent $815 million in premiums written by 1,500 independent agents covering 600,000 policyholders in 26 states. The insurance group also writes bonds in 44 states.
