A.M. Best Co. has opened an office in Miami, Florida to serve the market for insurance ratings in the Latin American region. The Miami office will be used for management meetings and other activities focused on the Latin American (re)insurance markets.
Jorge A. Gonzalez has been appointed to manage the office. Gonzalez is an insurance and reinsurance veteran who has worked and resided in Latin America and Miami for decades. Gonzalez reports to Tina Bukow-Truman at A.M. Best’s corporate headquarters in Oldwick, New Jersey.
Rating analytics for Latin American companies will continue to be performed by teams based in Oldwick, New Jersey. Earlier this year, A.M. Best opened an office in Dubai, UAE. Miami is A.M. Best’s fifth global office location.
“With the increasing focus on solvency and enterprise risk management, we have seen a growing awareness of the importance of insurance ratings worldwide,” A.M. Best Executive Vice President Larry Mayewski said. “The rapidly expanding insurance markets in South America, Central America and related regions command an increasing portion of our attention and resources.”
