July 31, 2012

Lancaster, Penn.-based Eastern Insurance Holdings Inc. has appointed Steven Weeks as regional business executive for the Gulf South territory at its Eastern Alliance Insurance Group unit.

Steven Weeks
Eastern Alliance Insurance Group, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Eastern Insurance Holding Inc., is a domestic casualty insurance group specializing in workers’ compensation insurance.

Weeks works directly in the Gulf South territory (Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama) and will be based in a new regional office in Mississippi, which is expected to open in a few months. He will spearhead Eastern Alliance Insurance Group’s long-term strategic initiatives and manage the day-to-day operations in the region.

The company told Insurance Journal that it expects to open the physical Gulf South regional office — staffed with underwriting, marketing, claims and risk management professionals — in the greater Jackson, Mississippi area in the next few months.

Weeks has 24 years of experience in the property/casualty insurance industry, with specific focus on workers’ compensation and medical professional liability. He most recently served as the director of four companies and five profit centers in Mississippi for HPI Company and MHA Solutions.

He previously served as the second vice president of marketing/sales for the Virginia Insurance Reciprocal/The Reciprocal Group. He currently serves on the board of the Mississippi Association of Self Insurers and the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Committee Advisory Council. He maintains a producer’s license in property and casualty and surplus lines.

Over the past few years, Eastern Alliance Insurance Group has received regulatory approval to write casualty insurance products in the region through subsidiaries Eastern Alliance Insurance Company, Allied Eastern Indemnity Company, and Eastern Advantage Assurance Company.

Since 1997, Eastern Alliance Insurance Group has been providing a wide range of workers’ compensation products and services to businesses, groups and self-insured clients.
