IronHealth, the specialty healthcare unit of Ironshore Inc., has introduced IronMed NC, a hybrid medical professional liability product that will be available through a partnership with Medical Mutual Insurance Company (MMIC) of North Carolina. The new product has been designed to meet the current and future needs of healthcare organizations as they face the challenges presented by healthcare reform and the increasing acquisition of physician practices by hospital systems.
Healthcare reform has triggered change within the hospital landscape, most notably with the integration of physicians into the hospital’s employee base. Attracting and retaining medical professionals will prove critical to hospitals’ long term success. IronMed NC will address risk management challenges, as well as the need for specialized claims handling, within a single product for both hospitals and physicians.
“IronMed NC brings together two organizations within the healthcare insurance sector to provide continuity in physician coverage, while also addressing the risk transfer needs of healthcare organizations,” said Matt Dolan, President of IronHealth. “Our partnership with MMIC enables physicians to continue to work with their insurance provider, while also offering protection for the hospital’s liability exposures.”
