Mississippi AG Charges 3 with Insurance Fraud

Three Biloxi residents have been arrested and charged with insurance fraud, Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said.

Hood’s news release said 47-year-old Rosemary Henderson, 38-year-old Lavon Donnell Cherry and 30-year-old Johnny Lewis were arrested last Thursday by investigators with the Attorney General’s Insurance Fraud Division.

All three defendants were indicted by a Harrison County Grand Jury and face one count each of conspiracy, insurance fraud and wire fraud.

The indictment alleges that they schemed to defraud Geico Insurance Co. with false injury claims and medical bills from Biloxi Regional Medical Center.

The claims involved alleged injuries in automobile accidents, Hood said.

Hood’s office said Lewis was also charged in a separate indictment involving false claims made to Allstate.

Hood said the defendants were booked into the Harrison County Detention Center. Information on their attorneys was not available.

If convicted of all the charges, Henderson and Cherry face up to 13 years behind bars. Lewis faces up to 26 years behind bars.
