Uber is to the taxi industry what the car was to the horse and buggy. I drive a cab in Las Vegas NV and Uber has forced so many new changes to the industry that it’s like the end of slavery after the civil war. Cab drivers are much like slaves or Jim Crow era laws in that we cannot own a piece of the business and are forced to employment if we work in the industry.Only a half dozen men own the approx. 3,000+ taxicabs in Las Vegas and so Uber is like the Union Army led by a Republican Governor, setting free the workers. Brian Sandoval is the New Abe Lincoln.

Easy for you to say. You’re in one of the few states where government regulators aren’t mucking the whole thing up.
Here in Florida you can drive illegally I suppose, but there is no legitimate solution.

Have you gone and driven for Uber then and if so, is it a better situation for you?
I drove in Vegas in the late 90’s and have been hacking in Key West ever since.

I checked with Geico. They said I am not covered if I am an Uber Driver and in fact they would drop my insurance if I became one. Check with your insurance company because you may not be covered either. Uber says you just need your personal insurance. But that doesn’t appear to be true.
