Shouldn’t employers know what they are getting into, though, when hiring? They can hire convicted blue collar felons, white collar felons or pedophiles without any rights to know prior to the hiring? You already cannot ask any medical questions. This would take what could be yet another critical employment differentiator off the table as well; yet the business entity and the employee workforce have a right to be protected. I am not unsympathetic to someone who has “served time” and is attempting to return to a normal life but where does protection of that person’s individual privacy overshadow putting a business or an employee workforce at risk. Difficult topic to discuss and resolve, no doubt.

As I understand the law, employers can still ask about a criminal background during their interview process. This law just wants to eliminate the question on the application, so a person with the right education and experience at least gets an opportunity to get in front of the employer and explain the conviction. It’s difficult to stop the cycle of re-incarceration if ex-cons can’t even get a chance at a job.

I sound like a broken record and I hate it. This administration (and Democrats countrywide) have this insanely weird & damaging entitlement mentality, where no matter what wrong you’ve done, you ought to be able to “right it” by placing the blame on someone else instead of paying for the consequences of your own actions.

You commit a felony, tough. As an employee of a company, I deserve the safety and assurance that someone who committed a crime is not sitting next to me without the company knowing of said crime. That’s MY right as a productive member of society. MINE ALONE BECAUSE OF MY ADHERENCE TO THE LAWS OF THE LAND.

I am a firm believer in second chances, and the only real way to really become successful is to learn by failing. But that doesn’t mean that background checks should be delayed in the hiring process or not employed at all. I believe in hiring managers establishing character with face-to-face interaction with a potential new hire as well, but you know what? Plenty of companies will hire criminals. They’re out there, as this article shows. To reacclimatize yourself into society, you have to start at the bottom and prove your worth/way, EXACTLY how each one of us did when we started out when we decided to obey the law and produce a future for ourselves. Why should we let anyone essentially “skip the line”?

Do you all detect a pattern here? Whether it’s criminals, illegal aliens or refugees, by all means skip the line. For what? Votes at the expense of law abiding citizens? This insanity never ends.

It paves the way for Felons with Gun Charges to get jobs with gun dealers. Hey, why not make things easier for convicted felons to get their hands on guns? Its the oBama way!
