Update: Standridge Uninvolved in Scam to Defraud Wasatch Crest Insurance

June 18, 2004

On April 13, Insurance Journal Online published an article, Five Arrest Warrants Issued in Fraud Scam. IJ, citing the Utah Insurance Fraud Division, reported that an arrest warrant remained outstanding for Dr. Richard Eugene Standridge, a Chandler, Ariz., resident.

IJ has since received a copy of a motion to dismiss that exonerates Standridge. All charges against Standridge were dismissed by the order signed by the Third Judicial District Court of Salt Lake County on May 7.

According to Standridge’s attorneys, a warrant for Standridge’s arrest was never reviewed by a grand jury. Upon knowledge of the warrant for his arrest, Standridge reportedly fully cooperated with the Utah Attorney General’s agency to exonerate his name. After conducting an investigation and examining the evidence, the Attorney General’s office concluded that Standridge was not a participant in the scam to defraud Wasatch Crest Insurance Co.
