The State of Hawaii’s Insurance Division and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners have developed a series of educational materials to help consumers better understand insurance coverages they may need.
The materials take into account consumers’ current stage of life in determining which products they are most likely to need. Categories include:
-Young Singles: Out on your own for the first time;
-Young Families: Recently married with young children;
-Established Families: Now the kids are becoming teenagers; and
-Empty Nesters and Seniors: Time to reevaluate needs without children and plan for retirement
According to Commissioner Schmidt, “knowledge is power” so Insure U is designed to provide consumers with the power to understand insurance in easy to understand, everyday terms.
For more information, visit www.insureuonline.org. There, customers can take the interactive “Insure U” quiz to see what they know about coverage needs. The Conusmer Publications page link on the left side of the site also provides more detail related to specific types of insurance.
