First Mercury Financial Corp. has opened an underwriting office in Irvine, Calif., and hired LaTrina Green as vice president. Green will be responsible for managing the office’s specialty casualty underwriting operations. The Irvine office joins the company’s other underwriting offices located in Boston, Naples, Fla., Chicago, and Dallas.
“The expansion into the West Coast was one of the main goals highlighted during our recent initial public offering roadshow,” said Richard Smith, president and CEO. “We believe LaTrina’s expertise will help us solidify and enhance our presence in California and other western states.”
Green has more than 13 years of underwriting and marketing experience in the insurance industry, with an emphasis in specialty casualty business. Most recently she was an assistant branch manger at C.V. Starr & Co. after previously serving as a senior underwriter. Prior, she was a senior production specialist – employment practices liability and more recently a professional liability manager with Western Risk Specialists.
