Seattle-based Physicians Insurance A Mutual Co. has been upgraded to an A- rating by A.M. Best Co. In its news release on April 23, 2008, A.M. Best noted that Physicians Insurance’s “excellent risk-adjusted capitalization, conservative reserving philosophy and aggressive claims defense position” contributed to the upgrade as well as the significant increase in policyholders’ surplus and improvement of operating profitability, the company reported.
“We continue to be recognized for our outstanding claims service, and we have made tremendous achievements in the areas of patient safety and new insurance products that are responsive to the unique needs of Northwest physicians. Our continual efforts have enabled us to move forward, so that today our financial condition is the strongest in the company’s history and we are well positioned for the future,” said Mary-Lou Misrahy, president and CEO.
Physicians Insurance A Mutual Company provides medical professional liability insurance coverage to more than5,600 physicians and clinics in the states of Washington, Idaho and Oregon.
