Stephen Ray has been appointed manager of the Utilization Review and Lien Unit for California State Compensation Insurance Fund’s Claims/Rehabilitation Department.
Ray was hired as a claims adjuster in the organization’s San Jose District Office in 1990, and two years later joined the Vocational Rehabilitation Unit. In 1998 he became a senior claims adjuster for Claimant Services, tasked with coordinating the district’s Medical Control Program and winning praise for his work in developing a Nurses Consultant Program. In 2000 he was promoted to San Jose District Office assistant claims manager. He established successful lien units, and the utilization review teams he formed were cited as a model for other offices.
Additionally, Marie Tillman has been promoted to claims manager for State Fund’s State Contract Services in Sacramento.
Tillman brings more than two decades of workers’ compensation experience to her new post that began in 1988 when she was hired as a claims adjuster for the organization’s Sacramento District Office. In 1995 she was appointed assistant claims manager for Sacramento State Contract Services. Her most recent assignment was in 2004 when she served as assistant claims manager of the Stockton District Office.
