Having liability insurance and a license have nothing to do with the problem. Public streets were intended for legitimate motor vehicles that have safety devices (seatbelts/airbags/anti-lock brakes/horns/doors), not battery powered carts used by old people and golfers. Carts are hazards to themselves and their occupants. It’s irresponsible to allow them on the same roads with cars/trucks. Sounds like the residents and most of the city council are old people who put convenience over common sense and safety. “Going Green” isn’t worth much if you’re dead. In a collision between a car and a cart…..bet on the car.
