Attorneys: $10M+ Settlement Reached In Wyoming Fire

By | November 22, 2013

Attorneys for a Montana man severely burned in a Bakken, Wyo. oil patch fire say they have reached a multi-million dollar settlement with an oil and gas company.

The attorneys for Lester “Gary” Roberts described the settlement Wednesday as a “substantial eight-figure sum” but did not release a precise figure. That would make it worth at least $10 million.

Roberts says he was severely burned by a November 2010 fire while working for a contractor on a drilling project in Stanley, N.D.

Court records show the 30-year-old Billings man sued Texas-based EOG Resources Inc. last year. The lawsuit included claims that Roberts was not sufficiently trained and did not have required flame-retardant clothing.

The two sides reached a settlement this month. EOG’s contractor, G&C Industries, was earlier dismissed from the case.
