November 5, 2014

The Nevada Highway Patrol is planning a “Badge on Board” enforcement blitz this week in the Las Vegas area to promote traffic safety around big rig trucks.

Trooper Loy Hixson says the effort comes after Nevada ranked third in a national comparison of high-performance states for commercial motor vehicle enforcement.

The rankings were announced Oct. 22 by the American Transportation Research Institute.

truck stopBadge on Board puts troopers in trucks to watch for speeding and aggressive driving by motorists traveling too closely, tailgating, failing to yield or cutting in front of big rigs.

Motorists may also receive educational handouts, and hear and see public service announcements on radio stations and billboards.

The NHP Badge on Board program began in 2008.

It has included periodic focused enforcement efforts.
