Rogner, Helwig Named to Workers’ Comp Charity Board in Florida

Kids’ Chance, a charity organization established by the the workers’ compensation industry, has named new board members for its Florida operation.

The all-volunteer Kids’ Chance of Florida, like sister organizations in other states, provides scholarships to educate children of workers who have been killed or seriously injured in work-related accidents. This week it named 2023 board members, including Bill Rogner, one of the best-known workers’ compensation defense and appellate attorneys in the state, as president.

“My goals for the year begin and end with the kids,” Rogner said in a statement. “We need to reach more of them and we need to raise the levels of support provided to our current scholars. I also hope to find qualified candidates for the Board of Directors. We need the vigor and vision that new members can provide.”

Kimberly Helwig, the strategy and risk management director of the National Council on Compensation Insurance, was named vice president. Tammy Boyd, an industry veteran and advisor to Rehabilitation Advisors, was elected treasurer. David Langham, deputy chief judge who oversees the Florida Office of Judges of Compensation Claims, is secretary.

Kids’ Chance of Florida said that since its founding in 2015 it has awarded $248,000 in scholarships for 57 people, and has seen a graduation rate of 100%.
