Dorothea Ioannou is CEO of American Club, which she joined more than 18 years ago. In January 1998, Ioannou entered the marine insurance industry, joining Allied Insurance Brokers where she managed the marine insurance claims department. In 2005, she became a claims executive for SCB (Hellas) Inc., the Piraeus Claims Liaison Office for the managers of the American P&I Club. In 2009 she became the first woman to be appointed to the Executive Committee of Shipowners Claims Bureau Inc. NY. She was named the American Club’s regional business development director for Europe Middle East and Africa in 2013 and was later promoted to global business development director, making her the first woman to occupy a top level global executive position in the history of the American Club and its managers. In 2018, she was appointed chief commercial officer and became CEO in August 2022.
