As AIM VP/AZL Director II - Portfolio Management, you are responsible for developing and implementing investment strategies and processes that support the objectives and constraints of assigned portfolios. You will serve as a named portfolio manager, as applicable, and provide guidance to team members while helping shape portfolio decisions, risk positioning, and investment outcomes. This opportunity will be primarily focused on external clients.
You will evaluate investment opportunities, external managers, market trends, and economic indicators to inform portfolio strategy and performance. You will also partner with stakeholders, external managers, and vendors to ensure portfolios remain aligned with investment objectives, regulatory requirements, and established policies and procedures.
The role will also require strategic planning and ownership of the outsourced investment advisory business for AIM. The role will own the investment solutions roadmap, tasked with developing target client segments and developing core value propositions that resonate externally.
Success in this role requires deep portfolio management expertise, strong judgment and analytical capabilities, and the ability to clearly communicate portfolio strategy, performance, risk, and recommendations to senior stakeholders. You will report into the VP, Investment Management.
Job posting range: $142,500 - $238,000
Note the job posting range is exclusive of company benefits or other compensation. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive program. If you are hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, competencies, and/or education. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.

What you do:

Primary accountabilities include:
- Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management: Develop and implement investment strategies aligned with portfolio goals and objectives. Ensure compliance with portfolio guidelines and regulatory requirements, and rebalance across asset classes and external managers as appropriate.
- Strategy and Product Roadmap: Own the end-to-end investment solutions roadmap, design scalable model portfolios and implementation playbooks that adapt to shifting macro and regulatory environments, and partner with product, research, and trading teams to industrialize and expand the solutions platform.
- Client Engagement and Advisory: Lead high-level external client discovery sessions, present investment solutions, and serve as the primary senior investment expert during client reviews, investment committee meetings, and quarterly reporting.
- External Manager & Vendor Oversight: Evaluate, select, and monitor external managers and vendors to ensure objectives are met. Support relationship management and address performance, risk, or service considerations as needed.
- Market & Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, economic indicators, portfolio results, and drivers of performance to identify investment opportunities and inform portfolio decisions.
- Risk Management: Manage the portfolio's risk profile and recommend actions that maintain alignment with investment objectives, constraints, and established risk parameters.
- Stakeholder & Investment Committee Engagement: Present portfolio results, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders. Participate in AIM's Investment Committee and contribute to the development of firm views.
- Governance & Procedures: Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to the adviser and assigned portfolios.
- Other: Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources, including generative AI.
What you bring:
- 11+ years of relevant experience in the financial services industry and/or investments required
- 7+ years of portfolio management experience required
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing investment strategies across portfolios
- Experience evaluating, selecting, and monitoring external managers and vendors
- Strong knowledge of financial markets, economic indicators, portfolio construction, performance drivers, and risk management
- Ability to analyze complex information, exercise sound judgment, and make effective investment decisions
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to present portfolio results and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders and investment committees
- Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with internal partners, external managers, and vendors
- Strong organization, execution, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field required
- Advanced degree and/or CFA required
- Basic to high proficiency with AI and/or business intelligence tools required
- You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.
