Pro Insurance Group, Falvay-Counihan Insurance

Pro Insurance Group, a Troy, Mich.-based independent insurance agency, announced the acquisition of Falvay-Counihan Insurance Inc., of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

InPro gains Falvay-Counihan’s book of property and casualty insurance business, as well as its team of seasoned insurance agents. The agreement was effective June 26.

Falvay-Counihan staff and agents, including Jim Rivard, Ann Waterhouse, Brenda Watts, Randall Klee and Cindy Katrich, will join InPro’s Troy office.

Falvay-Counihan clients will not encounter any service or policy changes as a result of the acquisition. To ensure a seamless transition, Falvay-Counihan phone calls, web visits and mail will be forwarded accordingly.

Falvay-Counihan was founded in 1969.

InPro currently employs 28 professionals counseling clients regarding personal, commercial, and life and health insurance needs.

Britton Gallagher, Beckman Insurance Agency

Britton Gallagher, based in Cleveland, Ohio, has acquired Beckman Insurance Agency of Wisconsin. The acquisition is part of the firm’s strategic growth plan in the amusement industry, the company said.

Mike Beckman stated he will continue working with the Beckman Insurance Agency to ensure a smooth transition. The business will continue to operate under the name Beckman Insurance Agency through the transition period.

Beckman Insurance has been writing amusement insurance for 28 years.

Britton Gallagher owns and operates Amusement Insurance Resources (A.I.R.), a specialty insurance program focused on the amusement industry.

StoneHill Reinsurance Partners

Dan Koshiol, a 15-year veteran of major reinsurance brokerage firms, announced the formation of StoneHill Reinsurance Partners LLC. The company is based in Bloomington, Minn.

Koshiol serves as president and chief executive officer. He is joined in the new venture by Lindsay Ginter, senior vice president.

Koshiol’s prior experience includes senior positions with reinsurance brokers Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, John B. Collins and Associates Inc. and E.W. Blanch Co.

Ginter also held positions at Collins and E.W. Blanch and, most recently, managed a reinsurance captive for Wells Fargo and Co.

Koshiol has focused on the specialty casualty segment, with an emphasis on medical professional liability, since he began his career at Blanch in 1997. He joined Collins in 2001 to help form that broker’s professional liability team; eventually, Collins became the largest broker of reinsurance for medical professional liability insurers in the United States.

In her tenure at E.W. Blanch and Collins, Ginter also focused primarily on reinsurance for professional liability insurers.

Hylant Group, AGIS

Toledo, Ohio-based insurance brokerage firm, Hylant Group, has acquired AGIS, an independent, full-service employee benefits agency with offices in Birmingham, Mich., and Orlando and Jacksonville, Fla.

In 2011, Hylant acquired AGIS’ Indianapolis office under the employee benefits leadership of Dave Norris.

The Florida offices will be led by industry veterans Andria Herr in Orlando and Mark Nixon in Jacksonville.

The Birmingham, Mich., office, led by Mike Nixon, will transition to Hylant’s Detroit office. Hylant’s expanding Southeast Michigan operation includes Ann Arbor Metropolitan, Detroit and Grand Rapids.

Founded in 1978, AGIS has been building and reinforcing strong relationships for nearly 35 years.

Hylant Group was founded in 1935 and is a full-service insurance brokerage with 14 offices in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee and Florida.

Arthur J. Gallagher, Broker Benefit Services

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has acquired Broker Benefit Services L.L.C. in Chesterfield, Mo. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2001, Broker Benefit Services offers employee benefit brokerage and consulting services for clients throughout the Midwest. The firm specializes in group health and welfare, executive benefits and wellness plans with an emphasis on planning, design, implementation and cost containment for group businesses.

Corey M. Durbin, John H. Byrne and their associates will continue to operate in their current location under the direction of William Ziebell, north central regional executive vice president of Gallagher’s employee benefit consulting and brokerage operations.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., an international insurance brokerage and risk management services firm, is headquartered in Itasca, Ill.
