Great article Carl! You’ve really covered some key points about HVAC and roof maintenance. Unfortunately, many homeowners neglect doing routine maintenance on HVAC units and roof systems until something goes wrong. Having been in the construction and roofing industry for over 20 years, my advice is to service your HVAC twice a year (Spring & Fall)things like routine coil cleaning will help with the efficiency of the unit keeping heating and cooling costs down.
The roof should be inspected after any serious wind or hail…even if you can’t see any damage from the ground, there can be subtle damage from hail or wind that can be enough to void a shingle warranty. Doug O. http://www.dougoliverdevelopment.com
If possible could you send any information or comments regarding
metal fatigue or possible rusting on a standing seamless roof
after significant hail damage on a commercial building.
Very good article. The easiest way to protect the AC unit coils is with a coil guard from Hail, No! Hinged Coil Guards. Not only do they protect the coils, they are also on a hinge. This make cleaning and routine maintenance a breeze for the service tech.
