Stephen A. Korducki, a senior insurance and reinsurance executive, has been elected president and CEO of Sunshine State Insurance Co. Inc. (SSIC), a homeowners insurance writer in Florida. Korducki succeeds John E. Rogan who is retiring after leading the company for five years.

Korducki joins SSIC after almost 30 years in the insurance and reinsurance business. He served for five years as CEO of Florida Select Insurance Group during which time Florida Select revenues grew from $50 million in one state to more than $300 million in 10 states. After leaving Florida Select, Korducki was at Guy Carpenter & Co. and in 2007 was recruited to be chief financial officer at First Home Insurance Co.

The Hartford has named Andy Napoli president of Consumer Markets division. Napoli will lead The Hartford’s plan to grow its AARP auto and homeowners insurance program, as well non-AARP business. He will also lead The Hartford’s efforts to improve customer and collaborate on digital solutions.

Napoli spent the last serving in a variety of product, pricing and claims roles at Progressive and Nationwide. He was most recently with the CUNA Mutual Group, an insurance company focused on serving Credit Unions across the country.

The Florida Insurance Council has selected Cecil Pearce as the trade association¹s new president. He will succeed Guy Marvin, who announced his retirement earlier this summer. Pearce joins FIC from the American Insurance Association, where he served in Atlanta as vice president for the Southeast Region. Much of his work for AIA has been on legislative and regulatory issues in Florida. This will be Pearce¹s second tenure as FIC chief operating officer. He was FIC president from 1996 to 2002.

His prior experience includes serving as the director of a program to “depopulate” the Florida Residential Joint Underwriting Association under former Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson; vice president of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents; and positions with the Independent Insurance Agents of America in Washington, D.C., and the Illinois Independent Insurance Agents.

FIC represents some 200 insurers and insurer groups writing more than $19 billion in premium volume in Florida.

The Florida Association of Insurance Agents has appointed three new members to its board of directors.

Elected to three-year terms as directors are: John Raymond Bouchard, president of Bouchard Insurance, Inc., in Clearwater; Edward Anthony DuBose, president of Coastal Community Insurance Agency of Northwest Florida, Inc., in Panama City Beach; Douglass F. Wiles, CPCU, president of Herbie Wiles Insurance in St. Augustine.

Four members are returning. Thomas Cotton, of Hugh Cotton Insurance, Inc. in Orlando, was elected to a second three-year term as National Director; John C. Laurie, vice president and agency manager of BB&T-Wyman, Green Blalock in Bradenton, was elected as vice chairman; Cynthia M. Webster, president/CEO of Jack Rice Insurance in Largo, was elected as chairman-elect; Arturo F. Hoyo, president of Coastal Insurance Group in Miami, will automatically ascend to the chairmanship of FAIA.

FAIA also honored Dirk DeJong and Gary Gregory as 2010’s Mitchell Stallings Memorial Award recipients. This award recognizes active FAIA members who have made significant contributions to the property and casualty insurance industry.

Insurance brokerage and risk management consulting firm Beecher Carlson has appointed Robin Mehta as executive managing director. He joins Beecher Carlson to lead the Bermuda office operations, including its captive practice.

Mehta began his career in Bermuda with Ernst and Young and then worked in the captive, brokerage and financial areas of the industry. Prior to joining the team at Beecher Carlson, was president of Inter-Ocean Reinsurance Co. and more recently as the CFO/COO of Hiscox Insurance Co. (Bermuda) Ltd.
