West Virginia Insurance Commissioner Jane L. Cline will retire after 10 years on the job.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin said Cline’s retirement will become effective June 30, 2011 and that he will name a replacement in the future.

“I have been fortunate to have worked in state government for 30 years,” Cline said. “I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing other interests.”

Appointed insurance commissioner in 2001 by then-Gov. Bob Wise, Cline has been responsible for regulating the insurance market. In addition to her duties as state insurance commissioner, Cline previously has served as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, as well as on the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission. Before her appointment as insurance commissioner, Cline operated a government consulting firm, Jane L. Cline & Associates. She served as commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles from November 1989 to October 1997.

Wells Publishing Inc., publisher of Insurance Journal, Claims Journal and MyNewMarkets.com, recently hired Denise Johnson as associate editor of Claims Journal.

Johnson’s background includes various claims positions, including serving as a senior claims examiner, field claims representative and a claims adjuster at Nautilus Insurance Co., Continental Western Group, Indiana Insurance and Wausau Insurance. Johnson has also written for numerous web and print publications, including Frontier Airlines’ in-flight magazine and Verdict Search, as well as for trade associations and non-profit organizations. She has a bachelor’s of science in criminal justice, as well as an associate in claims and an associate in surplus lines designations.

Claims Journal is a property/casualty claims news Web site and daily digital newsletter for claims adjusters and other related professionals. The Web site has over 88,000 page views by 22,000 unique visitors each month.

Wholesale insurance broker All Risks, Ltd. reports that Don Deising has been hired to lead its Orlando, Florida operation as branch manager and senior broker. Deising will produce new business while leading the Orlando office.

All Risks also announced the expansion of its Orlando office with the several new team members: Mike Medvezky, property broker; Rosanne Deising, senior underwriter/broker; Bianca Paige, senior underwriter/broker; Joanne Burdi, underwriting assistant; and Richard Morehouse, all lines broker.

All Risks, based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, has offices in Maryland, Arizona, California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington.

Lisa Caputo has joined The Travelers Companies, Inc. as executive vice president for marketing and communications. Caputo joins Travelers from Citigroup, where she was managing director for the public sector group. Until recently, she served as executive vice president of global marketing and corporate affairs. Her previous experience at Citi includes serving as chief marketing officer.

Previously, Caputo was in the public sector, including serving as deputy assistant to President Bill Clinton and as press secretary to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Also at Citi, Caputo created Women & Co., a membership business designed to provide women with financial services and resources.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based insurance brokerage firm Corporate Insurance Advisors (CIA) has added Alex Scott to its team of producers as it pursues expansion in south Florida. Scott will focus on middle market clients. Scott brings 20 years of insurance brokerage experience to CIA, having previously spent three years with Wells Fargo and 16 years with Liberty Mutual.
