The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York (IIABNY) announced that Lisa K. Lounsbury has been appointed as the organization’s permanent president and chief executive officer.

She has been acting on an interim basis in that role since the retirement on November 30 of former President and CEO Richard A. Poppa.

Lounsbury has been with IIABNY since 1999 as senior vice president and as president of IAAC Inc., IIABNY’s membership services division. Prior to joining IIABNY, she worked in several capacities for Great American Insurance in Pittsburgh, Penn., and Cincinnati, Ohio.

She started her career at Great American as an agency operations representative for the insurer’s commercial lines division, developing an agency plant in Pittsburgh, Penn., and underwriting new business.

Workers’ compensation specialist The MEMIC Group, based in Portland, Maine, has appointed Anthony Payne as senior vice president of external affairs.

In this role, Payne will oversee corporate communications and marketing, advertising, public relations, community relations, as well as legislative and government affairs for the super-regional insurance carrier. Most recently, he held the position of vice president of business development with Clark Insurance, an independent insurance agency.

Payne first joined MEMIC in 1992 as vice president of corporate affairs and was promoted to vice president of underwriting and marketing in 1998. In 2001, he left MEMIC to become the Northern New England regional vice president for marketing at OneBeacon Insurance. In 2006, he became the executive director of the Alliance for Maine’s Future, a non-profit advocating public policies for a strong Maine economy.

JLT Specialty USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc. (JLT), has announced the appointment of Keith Cornish as director based in New York City.

The appointment is part of JLT’s continued investment into construction specialty, further supporting JLT’s partnership with Construction Risk Partners (CRP) in January 2017.

Cornish brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate risk management and brokerage operations to JLT’s construction practice. He will join the organization’s leadership team and focus on business development and managing existing client relationships. Most recently, Cornish served as the regional senior vice president for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. and led its construction operations for the Northeast region. Prior to Gallagher, he was director of risk management for Hunter Roberts Construction Group, where he created a risk management platform when he joined the firm as a start-up in 2005.

In the future, JLT plans to continue to invest in its construction capabilities in the U.S., said JLT Specialty USA CEO Mike Rice in a company press release.

The Boston, Mass., office of Alliant has hired Phil Bean as senior vice president within the company’s Alliant America’s division.

In this role, Bean will provide targeted risk management and insurance solutions to clients throughout the Northeast as Alliant continues to bolster its presence in this region. The 23-year commercial insurance veteran joins Alliant with experience delivering results that reduce clients’ total cost of risk and human capital and handling risks in a range of industries.

Prior to joining Alliant, Bean was senior vice president within the Boston office of a large, national insurance brokerage firm, where he focused on new business development and the strategic delivery of services and solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients.
