Audrey Samers has been appointed to the position of first deputy general counsel at the New York Department of Insurance effective immediately. Samers previously served as deputy general counsel and was appointed special counsel to Superintendent Neil D. Levin on Holocaust-related issues in May 1998.
In her role as deputy general counsel, Samers oversaw the department’s e-commerce and privacy initiatives while providing senior day-to-day management oversight in the department’s Office of General Counsel. In her new role, Samers will take on expanded responsibilities to prepare the department for the challenges presented by financial services modernization.
