Would be nice for a political figure to obtain comments from all the parties affected by the hurricane before making one-sided pronouncements.

I can’t object to these changes. If they want more agency involvement improve the commissions, and improve the out dated application and underwriting process.
I want a voluntary national health plan, but in everything it needs to be a cost plus plan. Often the Goverment involvement they hides costs, make all the rules, and can’t find a place for non tax profit.

Not related to Senator’s comments but reflective of FEMA. NY property, prior flood claims in 70’s. Flood remediation by local, county and state on several occasions. Several changes in owners. New owner being surcharged for 70’s claims. Letters to FEMA completly ignored and a refusal to accept corrective action taken by local government. FEMA funds were used in several of the local projects. Why should Senator be suprised?

If congress wants to “real world” contructions costs paid, then issue a price list to the adjusters and it will be used.
Then congress can take the heat when its too much or too little to satisfy the public!
