If juries are awarding more large verdicts, it must mean that there are some doctors out there making some very large mistakes. It is my understanding that doctors who are negligent are not charged higher rates than those who are negligent. It is also my understanding that a small percentage of doctors are commiting most of the malpractice, many with multiple claims, yet they are allowed to continue to practice. Why cap all malpractice awards? Why not raise premiuims on those doctors who are responsible for the increases? It seems to me that caps will only punish the victims while allowing the negligent doctors to continue to cause more damage!
