Instead of addressing the problem of malpractice reform, our illustrious (sic) Gov Ed Spendell throws money at it. He raised the income tax, purports property tax reform (municipalities can now raise privilege to work taxes, etc., yet not reduce proeprty taxes) that is a joke, has championed slot machines to reduce taxes (will never happen), and gives away $211,000,000 while runnig a deficit. Pa is a joke and the governor is the main clown. Let’s have true tort reform (incl. malpractice) and reduce taxes. Spendell must go.

The very next artical in the Insurance Journal says it all “Malpractice insurance rates have been driven up by the “feeding frenzy” of trial lawyers taking advantage of a “broken system,” said Dr. Steven Brand of the Foris Surgical Group, a surgical practice that will close its doors in January.”
Goverment subsidized programs are not the answer. We need Tort reform as a state and as a country. We need limits set on punitive damage. Looser pays court costs or better yet attorney that looses pays.

Tort reform is a must or there are going to be fewer and fewer Doctors and the cream of the crop will go where they are not threatened if they practice.
