if this is going to happen, i bet GEICO will get into the market like they did when they went back to NJ. If so, then this will definately be a challenging adventure. Looking forward to the movement in MASS.

Isn’t competition exactly what the insurance industry was looking for??? Agents may need to work smarter, but they most certainly will be able to survive just like every other agency in the United States that works in a competitive market place.

I feel that this is long in coming, but inevitable in its appearence. Many Mass agents are just afraid they will lose clients to whomever has a lower rate; but if underwriting is allowed, only “better” drivers will get those lower rates. Most people prefer the independant agent because, usually, that agent knows them; with the direct writer, it is unlikely the
person on the other end of the phone will
know much about the calling party, if anything. Personal attention counts, count on it! And those direct writers are going to sit back and look at their experience before discounting rates much.
Getting the politicians out of the insurance business and giving the commissioner real power is the first step!

as i mass agent gieco is my greatest concern, lower rates, scoop up market share raise rates later. its a very deceptive business practice. then again im not surprised, the more i learn about the lizzard the more i realize the lizard would screw his mother to make a buck.

If any one would be willing id like to know more about Geico’s re entry into NJ.
