Once again, I’d like to caution folks who shop for rates… before you make a change you need to speak to your current agent. We had a client change auto carriers to obtain a group discount that saved them $135…however they lost a $315 credit on their homeowners policy and their new auto carrier does not insure homes. Use caution before leaping. Check all the facts first then be a good consumer.
The Division of Ins website is grossly inaccurate. It tries to give a rate based on limited and fixed criteria. Companies who file multivariant rate structures are shown with the highest rates because the DOI rating tool does not account for any discounts available with these carriers. The find an agent link is comical as it lists producers who happen to have been licensed by these cariers along with agencies – the problem is you cannot update your agency profile – only your producer profile can be updated. Why should the DOI be in the quoting business I ask. They shouldn’t. What a mess.

Good if you can get in. Keeps saying “Can’t quote rates in your state (Massachusetts)at this time. Try again later”. What good does that do me?
