Pure greed by life insurance salesmen and insurance companies with a payoff to some military people on base.
In 1963 I along with my entire company of 200+ recruits were trucked to a building on the base in Fort Knox Ky., lined up in front of the building and paraded in one at a time to sit with a life insurance salesman. We were told before we went in to sign the paper put in front of us. It was an application for $10,000 whole life policy on a payroll deducted basis. We then were marched out the back door and put back on the truck and back to or barracks.
So it is ok for insurers to use predatory practices on everyone else in Mass? All predatory practices should be outlawed no matter who is the recipient. This is not a support the military bill as much as it is posturing – showing that the MA state legislature is patriotic. Or do they really believe (as John Kerry does) that military member are too stupid to read the fine print, which is how they ended up being in the military and in places like Iraq?
hold onto that thought! first of all, you have to have a highschool diploma or GED to get into the military. reading fine print or the so-called ineligible reading of such does not mean you are going to join the military and head to IRAQ! where did you get such misguided information? i bet if you look at our troops, or bothered to ask them a question or two – you’d find out that they are pretty smart and intelligent. i used to be in the military myself. what mass needs is a good competative market for insurance, similar to what NJ went thru.

why are they getting life insurance anyways? uncle sam provides them life insurance (SGLI!). they can continue this insurance even after they leave. so, who’s really doing the listening? many life insurance policies will not payout if due to a war or terrorists act. they need to go to JAG and have them overlook their insurance.
