Authorities should start looking here in the Bay Area. Today our State and local income taxes have gone up by 1% (to 9 1/2% in SFO and 9 3/4% in Alameda County) and the cigarette tax increased from 62 cents to over $1. A pack of cigs can cost you over $5.00 a pack!

$5!!! That’s downright cheap. Cigarettes haven’t been $5 here in New York in years. Matter of fact, just the other day I saw someone charging $10 a pack…

you know today the fed tax for children’s health care has been added onto those cigarettes…. so they are worth more today than yesterday!
