    so, what about many regular auto’s that have safety issues? how many cars have windshields cracked? how many cars don’t have turn signals working? how many of these drivers are driving on a valid license?

    problem, is that we so focus on the professsional drivers, we forget about others. i used to be an otr-trucker for 48 states and canada. i was also a driver trainer.

    Wudchuck,

    Having grown up in Avon CT and having witnessed fatal accidents on Route 44 from vehicles coming “over the mountain” and running into commuter buses, I ask you this: do PPTs run into commuter buses or buildings at 70+mph while coming down a hill because their brakes failed or their owners neglected service?

    I appreciate the comment that we need to look at both commercial and personal vehicles alike, however in terms of potential damage and unsafe conditions, I agree with the state’s approach on investigating the commercial vehicles.
